If I hear one more thing about OJ Simpson, I swear I am going to scream! The media has played this for all it's worth and I, for one, have had enough. Can America please move on from this man? No alleged killer in American history has had as much media attention as OJ Simpson. Not Charles Manson, not Charles Starkweather, not Jeffrey Dahmer, not Gary Ridgeway, not even Scott Peterson who murdered his pregnant wife! So, what is behind this "OJ Phenomenon"? Although we hate to admit it, the standout factor is indeed race.
Susan Smith and Andrea Yates, two white women, drowned their children. Susan claimed a BLACK MAN carjacked her and took her babies. I was suspicious from the start. I never saw any tears and when was the last time a criminal carjacked someone and took two toddlers? If the carjacker put her ass out, why not put the kids out too? Sounded fishy and it was. Andrea Yates didn't leave home to murder her kids. One by one she drowned them in the bath tub. At first, the media and public were outraged but then, as Susan told of being molested by her stepfather and Andrea told of post-partum depression, everyone had so much pity for them. Since when is being molested an excuse to murder your children? What is this depression over doing what your body was created to do as woman, in giving birth? My God, I can't imagine what America would have been saying were these women black or Latin!
Listen, I am not an OJ fan, never have been. But, let's use our common sense, if it's possible. It is offensive to me, even as an African American, to hear the media label the Simpson trial, "The Trial of the Century". Are those people crazy??? I always thought the trial of the century were the Nuremburg Trials where Nazi war criminals faced an international tribunal for crimes against humanity. But, you tell me a broken down ex-football player usurps that? Jews, who yelled and hollered about Johnny Cochran even saying Adolf Hitler's name in court, as though he didn't have freedom of speech, had nothing to say about the stupid-ass media claiming this was the "Trial of the Century". Ok, I see.
A black defendant is always considered guilty from the beginning. Kobe Bryant (another stupid black man) was already painted as guilty on Court TV before his trial even started. Especially hateful is Nancy Grace when it comes to black defendants. She curls her lip and the Southern venom spews out nonstop!
I don't know if OJ did it or not and I really don't care. All I know is that we have beaten that dead horse enough. White America is obsessed with this man. They claim because there were mostly blacks on the jury, he got away with murder. Yeah, they sneer, if the trial had been in Santa Monica (mostly white), the verdict would have been different. Translation: We white folks would have put his black ass in jail regardless of some reasonal doubt!"
They didn't win and it continues to eat away at them! The "justice system" is so accustomed at having their way with black and poor defendants, that this was a tough pill to swallow. Damned, they yelled! Another high profile case lost. For all the preening and profiling done by Marica Levy, aka, Marcia Clark and the lisping and crying afterward of Chris Darden, they couldn't get a conviction. It's in the books, it's over. Had Simpson's wife been black, we would have heard no more about this, I'm telling you.
Chris Darden was on the Oprah Winfrey show and admitted (finally) that Mark Furhman was a virulent racist and what was read in court and portrayed as a screenplay, was not. It was, in fact, his own personal feelings about African Americans whom he'd promised to "serve and protect". Also, Darden says Fuhrman refused to allow him to cross-examine him on the stand because he was black. Hence, the cross was done by Clark. Nice witnesses the prosecution had. What did we expect from someone belonging to that cesspool called the LAPD? If, as the old folks say, "the fish always rots at the head first", the LAPD was a prime example. Darryl Gates, a racist, ultra conservative asshole, demanded his force use gestapo-like tactics, esp. in the "hood". Furhman had found his perfect niche. How did he, of all people, find a damned "bloody glove" that nobody else had found even though the property had been thoroughy searched previously? Ummm...
Let it go, America. Our country and the world is in such a mess. We don't need to continue to fixate on OJ Simpson any longer.
